How AI Will Transform, Not Replace, Human Work by Liranel Dandan
Whenever I remember my childhood, I can’t help but feel goosebumps all over my body. How I wish I had a time machine so I could revisit those moments. I’m a 90s kid and listening to the music of our time brings me ultimate nostalgia. Back then, smartphones, computers, tablets, and the internet didn’t exist — we had simple joys. These days, you would often need technology, like gadgets and robots, to make kids happy.
Iron Man is very popular with kids; a lot of them want to become like him. The film depicts a world filled with robots and the like, but if you take a deeper look, it is surprising how much this robot seems to reflect the personality of the man inside — Tony Stark. Everything Iron Man does is astonishing, of course, but it’s Tony who does it, not the suit. The lesson is, at the end of the day, it’s a person’s intelligence, strength, and agility that will make robots admirable.
We are living in exciting times; technology is rapidly advancing — thanks to human intelligence. However, most of us worry about losing our jobs to automation. On the contrary, automation could spur the growth of new jobs, which will work to our benefit. Job transformation will become the new trend for the coming years and we will find ourselves working alongside robots, but definitely not replaced by them.
Artificial intelligence (AI) will make human work much easier, exciting, and productive. According to J.P. Gownder, vice president and principal analyst at Forrester Research, the company “predicts a more nuanced future, in which automation creates jobs to offset the human jobs it eliminates — and one in which job transformation is the most compelling element. Yet an economy in which humans and robots work together will still represent a revolution — albeit not the one many fear.”
With AI transformation, the workforce will highly improve its operations and output as it will eliminate redundancy, save time, intensify data security, and allow effective problem-solving and innovation. Most importantly, AI transformation will pave the way towards making the essential human aspects of work more important. This will allow us to focus more on the human aspects of work like customer experience, employee engagement, and employee culture.
