Millions more jobs will be created than lost with the advance of artificial intelligence, the British head of a new university dedicated to the subject has said.

Sir Michael Brady, 75, president of the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence in Abu Dhabi, predicted that innovations in machine learning would rival the invention of the car in transforming productivity.

The university, which opens in August with 75 masters and PhD students, will focus on key applications of AI, such as computer vision, which helps to detect cancers, machine learning and natural language processing, which is vital for speech recognition and translation.
