Read the web pages with Google Assistant

How many times in a day you read your phone for catching up on the news, blog or any article that people are talking about. This may require read a lot of text, but this can be a barrier for people with visual or reading difficulties.

With Google Assistant, your browser can now read web articles or blogs loudly. Whenever a web article is displayed on your browser on your mobile phone, you can simply say “Hey Google read it” or “Hey Google read this page”, it will immediately read out the content of the web page. The browser will automatically scroll the page and the readout words will be a highlight.

You can alter or change the reading speed and choose from multiple voices. The web pages are read out in an expressive and natural voice. If your content of the web page isn’t in your native language, Google Assistant initiates your browser to read aloud in 42 languages. You can use the translation menu to select the desired language and all pages will be automatically translated and read out in that language.

The website doesn’t need to do anything to enable this special functionality. If you are a developer, you can add this functionality to your mobile or web app using the action on Google.

With this new feature, it can remove the language barrier and help a wide verity of people access information from the web easily.
