Startup Autox Setting Up The Largest Asia Robotaxi Operation Centre In Shanghai

Not so long ago, people were free from the tech talks, but before one could imagine, automation and the Internet of Things took over the world. Be it home , restaurants or cars, everything has been automated, and on top of everything, even the pilots can sit back as the place flies on its own with auto-pilot mode. A similar trend can be visualized in China as well, probably the first country from Asia to kick-start self-driving startups. The startup is known as AutoX. This startup is operating from Shanghai, the significant city of China. Back in September 2019, Shanghai authorities provided approval to AutoX for launching over one hundred self-driving cars in the Jiading district. Also, it’s the biggest robotaxi operational center of Asia with house tools for promising top-notch management of car data. This center is intended to shape into a huge data center with streams operating at one time, inclusive of;

  • Extensive capacity for running virtual tests
  • Management of regular data of the fleet

Over the years, these automated driving setups have generated billions of dollars in the last couple of years. On the other hand, the world of automation and artificial intelligence is growing, with which the US and China have transformed into the alligators of industry. In other words, global supremacy is real. Also, these automated driving startups tend to play an integral role in the artificial intelligence sector.

Back in September, 100 self-driving cars were authorized to operate in the Jiading district in the name of AutoX. However, another ride-hailing platform from China, Didi Chuxing, was also approved for operations self-driving cars in Jiading. With these two startups embarking on the journey of self-driving cars, it’s needless to say that the deployment is high.

These Chinese cities are going through revolutionary times because it’s the first time that robotaxies are hitting the road at such a considerable scale. The Shanghai program is empowering users to hail the rides from robotaxies through AutoX. The cars can be booked through the app. The app shall be available for Android and iOS users but is yet to be released.

According to AutoX, they will ensure the highest standards of safety and streamlined operations. They will imply strict safety checks on a daily basis. These daily checks will ensure the effective working of hardware and software modules leading to a satisfied customer base. Even more, there are well-designed improvisations modules.

If an issue is detected, the calibration becomes essential, and with calibration, the vehicle turntable will be implied to the car. On the turntable, there is a 360-degrees calibration panel. The rotation shall calibrate the sensors automatically through an internal software system. These automated module promises accurate and precise data collection while the car is on the road.

On the other hand, AutoX has been involved in autonomous car testing in the United States as well. With a green flag from China, the US provided the approval as well. With US’s approval, the Californian road shall see the ride-hailing from AutoX. In addition, they have partnered up with BYD, the electric car brand, for launching the pilot testing of robotaxies in the state of Shenzhen.

The companies weren’t allowed to hit the roads out of nowhere as multiple rounds were implied to test the performance and effectiveness. In the first round, fifty autonomous vehicles were allowed with permission to expand the fleet every six months. As for now, these vehicles can be used for qualified passenger transportation and delivery.

In addition, these cars could run for 53.6 kilometers while the allowed or designated area for operations is 65 kilometers. With new approval on board, the presence of the driver is essential for taking over the vehicle. The autonomous vehicle license is empowering the holders to carry passengers and transport them as per their requirements.

This will pose a positive impact on self-driving technology, and advanced mobility solutions will start pouring in. With this notion, the development of self-driving cars in China is scaling up. Another company, Baidu, is ready to launch over one hundred self-driving and driverless cars in Shanghai. Baida is intended to launch this service by the end of the year.

With their business already operating in China and the US, they are taking a turn in Europe. In Europe, AutoX has partnered up with a Swedish electric vehicle manufacturing and holding company, NEVS. By the end of 2020, they will start operations in Europe. The concept was portrayed at CES Asia in 2017, and with the implication of next-generation vehicles, the “InMotion” concept will come to life.

There is zero production of tailpipe emissions with these autonomous vehicles, and in the longer run, it will reduce vehicle consumption and lesser cars on the road. The partnership with NEVs is shaping the high ambitions of AutoX to take the autonomous vehicle industry by storm. At the start, Auto intended to utilize these vehicles for grocery delivery.

In the grocery delivery niche, they have partnered with DeMartinit Orchard and, but this is a pilot-testing happening in San Jose only. However, with expansion in revenue, they are working on robotaxies that are ready to take on the Californian roads.

The autonomous and robotaxi in California will be named xTaxi by AutoX. The company is authorized to take part in the state’s pilot regarding the autonomous vehicle passenger service leading to zero charges attained from the robotaxi rides and operating companies. As for now, there are 115 employees working in AutoX, and by the end of the year, they will require 50 new hires to cater to the demand.
