When someone is merely protesting for a cause, they believe in, why do they need to keep their identity safe? With the right to free speech and the right to assemble, peaceful protests are a lawful activity preserved by the U.S. Constitution.

Once the protests go beyond peaceful gatherings, they are no longer protests and become criminal events. If protestors want their identities kept safe so they may participate without retribution, I would argue they were never indeed protestors.

The utilization of AI technologies to identify people is a tricky and sensitive subject by itself. We can debate that usage separately and find infinite aspects to agree and disagree.

Overall, if protestors demand their identities remain concealed, they are not protestors. They are individuals looking to take advantage of a chaotic situation, causing fires, looting, vandalism, death, and rioting.

Be proud of what you believe when you are protesting. Protesting without an identity has no pride.
